It’s week 4!! We are so glad you are here! We’ve made a lot of progress on our little room, we are working with some amazing sponsors to beautify Kit’s space, so thank you, Linda, for making this all possible!
Things have started to arrive and, for real, it’s like Christmas over here. You may have seen on my Instagram that we have started receiving some of our products from our incredible sponsors!!
When I got this text from Andy….you’d better believe I RAN downstairs!!
We chose two incredible pieces from Minted, one of them normal sized:
And the other super-sized!!! There’s nothing I love more than large scale art. (and Andy…and my kids….and old houses)
We are WAY impressed with Minted. The quality of the framing, art and even packaging is incredible. If you are looking for statement pieces, you should definitely check them out! They just announced that they have new murals (!!!).
We also received our Milton & King paper today and I spent a good amount of time just touching it, haha! It’s even better in real life and I can’t wait to see it on the walls! As a reminder, this GORGEOUS wallpaper is going to connect Kit’s bedroom with her bathroom, so we had a big opportunity to go bold here!!
(Sorry for all the iPhone footage, btw. That’s just my reality right now, haha!)
We’ve chosen some KILLER roller shades from Select Blinds that should be arriving any day now and I just cannot wait…want to know why…???
THEY WILL BE MOTORIZED WITH A REMOTE! Yep, I am basically Cameron Diaz from The Holiday.
We’ve also done something that I think is pretty cool with Spoonflower….we turned Kit’s initials…..
Into a pattern and a fabric……
And now thanks to Roostery…It’s going to be her sheets and a beautiful velvet throw!
HOW FUN IS THAT!? I have soooooo many ideas of how to use Spoonflower, it blows me away that is is so simple (and seriously rewarding) to make your own fabric. Here are some quick tips to getting your own fabric to work with Roostery products…although it was super easy to figure out after reading in their help section. First: Sign up at Spoonflower for an account, then upload your “one off” part of the pattern. Use the tool to make it into a pattern. Then make sure you make that pattern PUBLIC. Log in at Roostery, and it will automatically pull your public design. Choose that and then you can pick any product they offer! It’s so fun to see it all rendered as a product. I am a nerd, and I love that kind of thing!
Ok, so on to progress of the room…it has been giving me some troubles. We already had two IKEA closets on either side of Kit’s crib. You may be wondering why you’ve never really seen that angle…and the answer is: it was to0 embarrassing to show, haha! The crib looks all dingy and we literally have a crib tent on there so she wouldn’t escape and go for a walk at 3 am to all of her friends/neighbor’s houses. ANYWAY…with the new bed, and wanting the canopy to drape on the sides of the bed, those closets were NOT going to fit.
No problem…we will just build in closet……
Well, that did not happen. By the time we measured it all out, we would have had 9″ wide closet doors and that didn’t make sense. at. all. So we came up with a solution!
We are building in the entire bed area wall with a drop canopy/fabric wall! It’s a little hard to explain, but let me try to show via pictures. Basically we will keep the closets on both sides, put the bed in the middle and build a drop down on the ceiling that will hold the curtains. Those curtains will cover the IKEA closets (we are taking off the doors) and make a beautiful drape towards the center of the bed.
My iPad pencil is lost or I would draw it for you…I’m so sorry.
See how it comes out juuuuust in front of the closet? That is the space where the fabric will hang and then come halfway over the bed to form a giant canopy area! Kind of like a Dutch cupboard bed, but with fabric instead of wood! We are so excited and it’s already changing the feeling of the room!
It did, of course, land right in the middle of the light, so now we will have to move those. No biggie.
Ok! We pick up moldings from Metrie tomorrow and we will keep cruising along over here! Go say hi to everyone and catch up on their progress!
