We are SO excited to share Kit’s “Big Girl” room with you! I just want to start by saying that this post will evolve over the course of today as more/better photos arrive!
Talk about LAST MINUTE, GUYS! I’m just glad we finished at all! Haha!
I know everyone says this, but seriously, Linda from Calling it Home puts so many hours and dedication behind this event and connects us as designers to the most incredible brands. Without her, these rooms would not be possible. So THANK YOU LINDA, and THANK YOU to all of the brands who are working with us!
Without further adieu….Let’s get going!
Remember Kit’s Room before?
Now it looks like THIS:
The Hallway before:
and after!
The Bathroom before:
and AFTER!
We are SOOO happy with everything, the only thing I’m sad about is that we BARELY finished the room in time so these photographs are not the best…but don’t worry, we will replace them here ASAP.
Let’s take a closer look and give some love to our sponsors who have been so generous to work with!
Can I just say….WOW. We are absolutely in love with our wallpaper and fabric from Trend and Fabricut. We chose this Vern Yip Wallpaper because it was soooo unique and felt both modern and timeless. We paired it with this beautiful velvet from Jaclyn Smith’s collection and it just takes our breath away. Isn’t it amazing what a little bit of color, texture and pattern can do for a room!? Kit is the most excited about this bed area because she can make it into her fort!
I knew right away that I wanted a French daybed…something that felt sturdy and cozy at the same time. Since this is Kit’s first big girl bed, I wanted her to feel safe. We found the PERFECT bed on Hayneedle and paired it with this mattress that had amazing reviews. I and a BIG advocate of having comfortable beds and mattresses for kids… I think it helps them sleep better! Hayneedle has an amazing selection and we were suuuuper impressed with the quality of the bed and how comfortable the mattress is!
If you read my previous posts, you know how OBSESSED I am with the custom pattern I made on Roostery that says Kit’s initials: KM. Together, Spoonflower and Roostery have the ability to take your design, print it AND make it into something!! In our case…sheets and an adorable throw! We think this adds a super fun personal touch!
This room would not be anywhere close to as beautiful without the foundation that Metrie’s moldings created. We are huge believers in adding character where it has been lost, or never existed in the first place. We used their French Curves line to create this incredible look. It is technically four pieces on the crown (the picture hanging rail, bottom of the crown, top crown and a ceiling piece) and then the most amazing chair rail and picture fame molding on the walls. Trim is the BEST thing you can do for you house and Metrie really does do it best!
I’ve already mentioned on the blog, but we are SO IMPRESSED with the amount of vintage and antique rugs that rugs.com has! Also…super affordable! I can honestly say that that is one of the questions we get asked the most: Where to get cool cool old rugs. The rug that we chose is one of a kind and has incredible pinks and corals which are perfect for this room! The quality of the rug is fantastic and there were so many that we were debating between because they had such a massive selection. We couldn’t be happier with this rug!!
We chose these fabulous pillows from Arianna Belle: The Leopard and the Ribbon Navy and White. I can’t tell you guys just how *nice* these pillows are. They are handmade from super high quality fabric and they are just perfection. There really is a difference with high quality pillow covers and you can absolutely feel it with these pillows!
You may have already seen in our Instagram Stories, but we are big fans of Homepop and the quality of this bench! (Andy especially :) We asked all of you what we should choose and we are just loving this bench! It actually lifts up and has storage inside and it’s the perfect navy velvet color!
We definitely hit the pillow jackpot this round because we also got to work with SWD Design pillows. This velvet stripe pillow is everything I hoped for on this little bench moment. These are custom made and such HIGH quality. We also picked a solid Navy Velvet from SWD that is just so rich and soft to the touch. We’ve been completely spoiled now in the pillow department and I’m not sure I can ever go back ;)
Art really can make or break the room and we were lucky enough to work with Minted! They custom made this huge piece of gorgeous art for us as well as an adorable smaller piece in the bathroom! We are blown away by how quickly they sent us our pieces, the thoughtful packaging and, of course, how pretty everything is! This large piece is definitely a statement piece and we love it so much! We can’t wait to order more from them, they were excellent to work with and we highly recommend!
I love sconces and these are maybe my favorite ever. They are from Crystorama and it was such a hard decision to make because they have so. many. pretty. things. I decided on these because I love how timeless they feel but they are also a little bit whimsical! I could totally picture these standing along on a wall and being the only piece of art!
If you’ve seen our stories, you know how much WE LOVE these roller shades!! Having automatic shades makes me feel like we are real adults living in a real house. I could go on and on about how fun they are, but they really are practical as well! I’m not worried about Kit getting tangled in any cords and they block out all the light so she can sleep in ;) They’re beautiful AND functional and we couldn’t be happier.
We love mixing modern styles with antiques and this lamp from Lamps Plus is SO COOL. It’s very heavy duty and the orbs remind us of the bathroom wallpaper and it all fits together so nicely! Already last night we turned on the lamp and turned off the rest of the lights and just sat in the most beautiful and peaceful light ever.
I’m always happy to add flowers or trees into a space that DON’T require watering or maintenance and we love this faux arrangement from IBBD! It looks real and will always make me feel like we have fresh flowers in Kit’ room without the mess!
For real….this is the PRETTIEST handle ever made. We picked this woodpecker handle from Schaub and decided to use it as a door hook on our 150 year old doors because it felt right at home here! The craftsmanship of this hardware is out of this world and I can’t wait for people to ask me if it’s original…because they will!
If there is anything that can truly MAKE A ROOM, it’s a statement chandelier and this chandelier from Mitzi is everything I hoped for. The glass globes have brass on the end where the screw on and it just feels so high quality. I love the light that it lets off, filtered through the frosted glass and the brass arms are perfectly scaled! It really is an incredible light and we are so glad we have it in this room!
In the hallway we put two of our most prized possessions: Our Queen Victoria signed documents! They fit in perfectly with the new paint, moldings and gorgeous lights! (We really are totally Anglophiles.)
Have you ever seen LEATHER lights?! We had not until now and they are seriously amazing. The connecting hallway feels like a 100 year old library now in the best way. All of Craftmade’s lights are such high quality and these are no exception. They were super easy to hang and hang LEVEL which is a huge deal to me. I think these lights would look amazing in several different style spaces and I plan to use them again in some of our future projects!
We definitely know how to go bold over here!! The second I saw this wallpaper from Milton & King I knew I had to have it!! The colors and the adorable pattern are totally our jam. PLUS it is the nicest paper ever and you apply it by pasting the wall, which saves so much time. It really was exactly what this little bathroom needed to feel special!
We bought an on-the-rack vanity and painted it the same color as the wainscoting and it made a HUGE difference! Also, how cute are these star knobs from Schaub!? They really make it feel custom!
We needed a new door handle for the bathroom because the original had been replaced a long time ago with a standard doorknob. That means that the door was altered with bondo or something else and would be super hard to put back to original. Normally that would really make me sad, but then we found this STUNNING knob from Emtek and I’m sooooo happy! It looks antique and new all at the same time. This is one of those things that I think could dress up any home, old or new!
For our bathroom rug we chose this little masterpiece from Couristan. I had only seen this in pictures and honestly didn’t know what to expect. I am typically a person who only buys vintage rugs, but wanted to give this a try. I have to tell you…I was BLOWN away by this rug and totally plan to use the bigger size in an upcoming project! It is so rich and full of texture! I highly recommend this rug, I cannot even imagine how much of a show-stopper the larger size would be.
I want you to know that these faucets from Hansgrohe are the nicest I have ever, ever, owned. I picked them up out of the box and the first thing I said was: “these are heavy!” We went to a lot of work to be ready for them and I can say that it was TOTALLY worth it! I can’t wait to get the shower curtain in here and finally use the shower! The sink faucet has a perfect flow and I don’t know how else to explain in, but it just feels good to turn it on and off. You can really tell that these pieces are made to last, and we love that.
Here is that fun abstract from Minted!
We have been using Kichler for a long time now because not only are their lights beautiful but they are also very reasonably priced! I have had my eye on this light for a while now and couldn’t wait to get it in here! My favorite part about it is that it looks like it could have been original to the house!
I hope you enjoyed our little room tour as much as Kit loves her room!! I am going to post her reaction on our Instagram later today…I’m biased, but I think she might literally be the cutest ;)
