Hi guys! Andy here! When we meet people and talk about what we do it can get pretty complicated. We usually start out talking about our crazy blended family and the fact that we have possibly the cutest small human ever to dance her way across the face of the earth. Obviously we bring up the fact that we love old homes and are on a mission to save as
We LOVE change!!
Hi guys! We are so excited for the next couple of months. We have been nesting at Love House A LOT lately, I don’t know what it is about winter and the snow, but I swear that is when I get the most done! (Maybe it’s because in the summer I’m like, ugh, it’s too hot, I’ll just go swimming instead of working ;) We have partnered with Valspar this
After the flood…
Hi guys! We went MIA for a little bit, because…..flood. We will write a whole post about it, but until then, just know that it was fairly devastating and we had so much more going on than just GALLONS AND GALLONS of water, so we took a little social media break. Also, we were sick for, like, ever. BUT NOW we are healthy, happy and moving on! We had a
OHL Featured on The Lettered Cottage!
Hi guys! For a long time I have admired Kevin and Layla Palmer. She writes a blog called The lettered Cottage and asked for us to guest post. I am still freaking out that this is real life and that people who are basically celebrities to me actually know who we are!!! Layla is so very talented and her style is amazing. What’s more, you can tell that they have
Local news feature…and “flipping” houses
Hi guys! We were recently featured on a local news station called KSL! They sent a delightful camera person over to the Healing House this Saturday. He watched us work on the house and asked us some fun questions about what we do! Even though we have filmed an entire television show, we still get nervous and worry that we’re going to say and do stupid things. Luckily I only
We made shirts!
Andy has wanted to make shirts since we very first became Old Home Love. The problem is it took me FOREVER to make a logo that I love. Like, seriously. The second that this logo finally came together, it was ON! I want to put our logo on all the things. For now it’s on t-shirts, hoodies, striped shirts for the boys and a cute little dress for Kit. We
Welcome…again!
We started writing this blog 2 years ago–we were determined to post everyday and keep all of our amazing instagram followers in the know. We posted about 6 whole times then we bought more houses and all we could do was work, work, work! It doesn’t make it any easier that we, you know: HAD A BABY and FILMED A TV SHOW. We honestly feel a little crazy right now,
We have an air date!
We are so excited to announce that our show (Old Home Love) will be airing on Wednesday, October 7th at 9:00 PM (Mountain Time) on DIY network! We can’t believe that we get this opportunity to share what we love with America. The show will be a half hour long, and episode 1 and 2 will air back to back! It’s pretty crazy how we have been in a holding
The Trees!
We got married at Love House. Naturally. I planned on sharing all of our pictures today and talking about the details, but I feel more like posting about our trees. The wedding post will be lovely and later. We hired a local arborist to come have a look at the amazing old tress on the property. We have two giant Siberian elms (that everyone hates on because they have the
What Love House is Made of
We love old homes….all kinds. We love 20’s cottages, 50’s ranches, 40’s war homes, Early 1900’s etc, but homes built before 1900 are our favorite. I’m not sure if that’s obvious or anything (6 out of 7 of ours are from the 1800’s.) For us, there is something about a home built before many modern conveniences, such as, you know, concrete. In Utah, a common material for building homes was
Rats Make the Best Memory Keepers
Just a sampling of the treasures we found while sifting through rat’s nests at Love House. From top, clockwise: A gold chain, mercury dime, Goose Shoe Store token, overall latch, old clothing tag, square nail, old eraser. (Taken from a video from Insta, sorry for the bad quality) The lath and plaster ceilings freaked us out. They weren’t sagging yet, but we knew we wanted to put can lights in,
Engagement and a New Yard!
Amidst all of the house renovations, we were also planning our wedding-because we are crazy people who like doing two life changing events at once…NBD. We knew we wanted to get married at Love House (it was really the only logical place in our minds) so I thought it might be fun to post some of our engagement pictures. They were taken, you guessed it, at Love House. (I am
