If you follow us on Instagram you have seen some sneak peeks of our “dream home.” I’m not sure it would qualify as a dream home for many, but we are not really normal people. 

Built in 1907, this over 15,000 sq.ft. school served grades from 1st all the way up to 10th. It is set in a super rural (and perfect) Utah town surrounded by untouched mountains and fields. It was used as a school until the 1950’s or so and was then purchased by a home herb business; we bought it from them!

When we first saw the school on the MLS I told Andy, “this will be ours.” He laughed but knew I was serious. It wasn’t crazy expensive, but it needed a LOT of work and it took a long time to make it happen. We actually almost lost the deal at one point, but luckily, it all worked out. 

Most of the original detail had been stripped out (something the previous owner now regrets, but, you know, the 70’s were rough) and we were left with one room with some original trim and the staircase. 

We will take everything we can get!

We were also left with a lot of original floors (since somewhat ruined by the flood, *crying my eyes out*) and a few original windows and doors. 

It’s such a funny emotion when I’m there…on one hand I can barely breath I’m so excited, and on the other, my heart is absolutely broken to see it stripped nearly bare. 

NOT TO WORRY schoolhouse, we’ve got you, girl. 

Kit and the boys are in love with it as much as we are. We take them down to run around (carefully during construction, haha, we are super awesome parents) and let them scheme and make plans of their own. The think we are most excited about the unfinished 3rd floor that is going to be a 5,000 sq.ft. open bunk room/basketball court/scooter track. 

You guys would just DIE if you saw this in person. 

We are filming the whole thing for our show and you will all get to follow along, I just wanted to make sure you were properly introduced :) We will be posted about the whole progress here, too! So stay tuned!

Also, we will have 3 guest suites and a guest house and if you promise to be best friends, you can come stay with us anytime :)
