Almost exactly one year ago today we met a wonderful person named Suzanne at the Vintage Whites market in Salt Lake. We were their special guests (love you, Jana and Vanessa) and Suzanne-as she told us later-came to pitch us about a book and buy a few antiques. She was SO chill about it, like it was no big deal, but I immediately started to FREAK OUT and told her not to tease me unless she meant it.
She definitely meant it.
I basically have 4 professional goals in my life, give or take. One is meeting (and becoming best friends with) Martha Stewart and another is publishing a book! And not just any book, but, like, a GOOD book.
Seriously, we are so proud. It took a lot of time and surprisingly a lot of money to produce this labor of love. I wrote the whole thing in a week while simultaneously laying it all out in inDesign on my 12″ MacBook. Andy became the best mom ever so that I could work and then he wrote the most beautiful introduction I’ve ever read.
I’ll be writing individual posts on our AMAZING photographer, stylist and assistants who helped make this all happen, but just know that we genuinely tried to produce something that brought love and light to old houses and why they are SO special.
But for real, when I finished it, I never wanted to see it again-it was so much work, haha! Now it’s like giving birth, you totally forget the pain and are PUMPED to do it again!
(I thought if I ever had to write the words “character”, “love”, “house” or “home” again I might die!!)
I will never profess to be an amazing writer, but I can definitely say that I meant every word that made it on the page. Andy and I both hope that you all love it!!
Let’s save all the old houses together!!
Love you guys!
