Hi guys! We were recently featured on a local news station called KSL! They sent a delightful camera person over to the Healing House this Saturday. He watched us work on the house and asked us some fun questions about what we do! Even though we have filmed an entire television show, we still get nervous and worry that we’re going to say and do stupid things. Luckily I only hit my head on the ceiling once and we didn’t cut any fingers off using the saw! Haha!
They produced a wonderful story and it aired Sunday. They have also posted it on their website if you want to check it out:
We have been shocked by the amount of followers we have gained and positive comments that we have received regarding the story. There have also been some super negative comments on the site, but what can you do?
Jerks.
The only part of the story that make us cringe a little is the title house “flippers”. If you have been following us on Instagram, you know that we are pretty far from house flipping. We have nothing against other flippers, but that’s just not what we do. Well I shouldn’t say that I have NOTHING against house flipping… ’cause sometimes I think it can be a little cutthroat, but for the most part I genuinely think taking a home that is rundown and an eyesore for a neighborhood and fixing it up is a good thing. We absolutely sell our houses when we are finished, and sometimes we even make a profit, but we do it to save houses and make beautiful homes for families to live in. Hello, #restorednotflipped is one of our most favorite hastags.
For real, would a normal flipper take on some of the things we do? I guess I should maybe say would a normal sane person…nevermind.
I know that I shouldn’t waste one minute of my time worrying about negative comments, and haters gonna hate, but I’ll definitely need to work on getting a thicker skin. I was like “Hey! We do good work, and you don’t even KNOW us!” and then Andy politely reminded me that it is better to just let it go…and vent here :)
We are so lucky to get to do what we are passionate about. It isn’t easy, but you will hear us say this a lot…we can’t imagine doing anything else.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day!
